Outdoor Play and Learning

At Charter Primary School, every child is given the opportunity to learn outside the classroom.

Opportunities for Learning in the Natural Environment (LiNE) are utilised in all subjects from Early Years through to Year 6.

Our qualified Forest School practitioner works with small groups of children both in the school grounds and in local woodland areas. Children develop their leaderships skills, grow in confidence, problem solve and make decisions about risk.

Our Outdoor Play and Learning programme is being developed to ensure playtimes are creative, collaborative, imaginative and social. High quality play makes happy healthy children. We acheieved an OPaL Gold School award in November 2023.

Charter Primary School pupils become resilient independent learners when they connect to the world around them through hands-on experiences in the natural environment.
